STARS IN THE SKY AT NOONTIME :

How do I know if there really is a Heaven, or God or Jesus? How can I prove that what I saw and felt was real? How can I prove that it really happened?

I guess my answer would have to be, I probably can’t physically or scientifically prove that what happened actually happened..but there is absolutely no question in my mind that it did.

I remember hearing a sermon or a discussion on the subject of gravity one time. The person talking about it said that gravity is not something we can see but we know it is there. We can measure it, up to a point, and we know what it will do so we live with it. It doesn’t matter if you believe in it or not, gravity is there anyway. If you don’t think so, try going up to the 20th story of a building…convincing yourself that there is no such thing as gravity and then stepping off the edge of the building. It won’t take long for you to realize your mistake and to make a believer of you in the theory of gravity. Unfortunately……you won’t live long enough to tell people about your new-found wisdom.

I can’t prove, physically or scientifically probably, that my “life-after-life” experience really happened but I know in my “heart of hearts” that it did. And I’m smart enough to change my life now..so that the next time I leave this world, I will be ready.

You know, we live in a world that seems to have lost it’s faith and it needs to have things proven, by science, to believe that its real. Yet, there are things we do or believe in every day…by faith. Every time you get in an elevator you have faith that someone has done the maintenance on it and checked it so that it works the way its supposed to.

Every time you drive down the road, you have faith that if you stay on your side of the road and follow safe driving rules that the folks on the other side of the road will do the same and nobody will “cross the line.” Every time you get on an airplane, you expect it to perform the way its supposed to so you can get to your destination safely and hopefully on time. And when you go to a restaurant, you expect to be able to enjoy the meal you order without thinking about whether or not the food is safe to eat. And on and on.

The scientific community, to a large degree anyway, seems to prefer the “big-bang” theory of the origin of the earth. Yet I have never seen absolute, conclusive proof, agreed upon by that scientific community that shows that theory to be true. There are arguments for parts of it that seem, on the surface anyway, to explain a few things but that’s as far as it goes. The same applies for the theory of evolution of mankind.

(more on this later)

Each person is allowed to believe what they will and it is not my intention to twist someone’s arm until they agree with me. My job, as I see it, is to tell what happened to me, what I believe in and what I plan to do with my beliefs from now on. If people agree or disagree…that is their choice.

God does the same thing. He has provided a book with all the information in it for us to learn how to have eternal life with Him in Heaven. What we do with that information is up to us. God says in His Word, and I am paraphrasing: “I set before you, life and death, blessing and cursing. Take life, that it may be good for you and your loved ones.” He leads us to what is right and good, but He doesn’t force us to take it.

You know….there was a man, driving his car on his way to meet someone that lived way out in the country. He had been driving for a long time and finally came to the proverbial “fork in the road.” There were two signs. One said: “Good Road” but it was a little longer in length. The other sign said: “Bad Road – rocks, potholes, washouts and more.”

As the driver was standing near his car trying to make up his mind, an old man came walking by and asked if the driver needed some help. The driver then asked the old man if he knew both of the roads and he said he did. So the driver then asked: “which road is the better one to take?” The old man had a confused look on his face because he couldn’t understand why anyone would ask that question but he answered: “why, the good road of course.’’ But as the old man walked away, the driver was still trying to figure out which of the two roads he was going to take.

That’s what God says. Here’s the good way (although it may take a little longer) and here’s the shorter route but its going to be really bumpy…..if I were you….I’d take the good way…..but it is your choice.

As parents, we try to teach our children right and wrong. Sometimes they listen and sometimes they don’t hear too well. You can tell a child 100 times not to play with matches or not to play around a stove or other hot things. Hopefully, they listen and learn but we can’t follow them around 24 hours a day to protect them. If they insist on lighting a match or touching the stove and they get burned…all we can do is patch them up and help them to not make the same mistake again.

When we’re talking about physically dying and life-after-life, its only going to happen once for most people and its not something you can go back and do differently or over again. That’s why God spends so much effort trying to get us to listen to Him. It’s because He knows the Truth. He knows what is still to come. He knows what is really good for you. He knows what will truly make you happy if you give Him the chance. He even sends guardian angels to watch over you and to try to prod you into taking the “good road.”

But, make no mistake….if you absolutely make up your mind not to follow God….He won’t stop you. He’ll do everything possible not to lose you, but, ultimately it will be your decision. And you can’t cry afterwards and say no one cared because if you take the time to think about it, you will see how many times God and His angels….and your loved ones tried to help you.

So, how do I know there is a Heaven, and God, and Jesus and how do I prove it? I can’t prove there is…but, no one can prove there isn’t. (more on this subject elsewhere)

And, as I heard one time, even if it was proven that there was no God or Heaven…..I would still live my life according to God’s Word, the 10 Commandments and the Golden Rule. No one….in the history of the world has ever come up with a better formula for a society to follow.

Besides…have you ever seen stars in the sky at noontime? Neither have I but I know they are there just the same. I just have to wait until night comes to prove it……but….they were there all the time.

ADDITIONAL:

It seems that when science tries to prove that there is no God, Heaven, Life after life, etc. it uses the scientific theories it has put forth as “proof” of this or that. Unfortunately, the real key to their argument is based on a “theory” which by its nature is not a “proven fact”. It is an idea, put forth by someone, and based on a number of different things or ideas. Sometimes it is accompanied by “tests” to prove its authenticity.

My understanding of scientific theory is that an idea is put forward and then the “process” of scientific testing and evaluating takes place to help determine if the idea could be possible. I have no problem with the process of evaluating ideas or theories and I think it’s a good thing. But I also think that there are some things that can not be proven….one way or the other….. Some theories are like this.

Way back in history, most scientists and “learned” men thought and said that the earth was flat and if you got too close to the edge, you would fall off. But then some others thought that wasn’t true and they decided to try to sail around the world….and they did. Thus, they determined that the first theory was now wrong. It didn’t mean the first people were stupid or unjust in their thinking, they just didn’t have the ability to prove otherwise…..so it was their “theory” that the earth was flat.

And through the ages, some men (and women, too) have said this or that as theories and then had them proven right or wrong. Like saying that man will never fly like a bird. Well, technology changed that.

Or, you can’t build a ship out of metal and have it float on water because it’s too heavy and it will sink. Well, technology changed that. Or, you can never put a man into outer space and bring him back alive…much less send him to the moon. Well, technology changed that.

Or…..that the only time there are stars in the sky….is at night. There are NO stars in the sky at noontime. Well, ………….technology has changed that idea.

The thing is that theories, by their nature, are just ideas……sometimes provable and sometimes not. And if 2 different theories are not provable….then they are both possible….neither one is better or worse.

Why would I say this? Because if you take the two most important “theories” of: “no, there is no God, no Heaven and no life-after-life”….or “yes, there is a God, there is a Heaven and there is life-after-life” and you say that neither one is provable or unprovable…………then there is only one consequence of believing one theory over the other.

If you believe there is no God, Heaven or life-after-life…..then, if you are correct….when you die, there’s nothing else….no afterlife, no nothing….life is just done………

But, if you believe there is a God, Heaven and life-after-life…then, if you are correct…when you die, you go on to the next life and that may include God (hopefully) but it may also include a time away from God

What is the difference you say? Once you die……you can’t go back and change your mind. You can’t say…”oh, I didn’t really know that was the Truth because otherwise I would have done things differently.” Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. While you are alive, you have the ability to make a choice and when you die, you will live by that choice.

Now…my question to you is this. WHAT IF I AM RIGHT? You see, I am upfront and honest about the question of “can I prove there is a God?” The answer is ….nope. But then, someone else can’t prove there isn’t a God. The big difference is in what we each have to gain or lose based on our beliefs.

Now that astronauts have been to outer space……..are there …Stars In The Sky At Noontime?????
